Jazz Vegas Orchestra feat. Wayne Bergeron · Myron's Cabaret Jazz, The Smith Center · June 17, 2026

It sold out. Of course it did.

When you put a Grammy-nominated trumpet legend on the Myron's stage with one of the most accomplished big bands in the American West, in the most intimate room at The Smith Center, for a 90-minute no-intermission set, the word gets around. Every seat was filled. Every note landed. And by the time the last tune resolved, the room knew it had witnessed something genuinely special.

This is what the Jazz Vegas Orchestra does when everything lines up. And on June 17th, everything lined up.

Wayne Bergeron and the JVO — Real Chemistry, Real Music

Wayne Bergeron is not a guest artist who shows up, plays his parts, and collects a check. The man is a musician in the truest sense and from the opening notes of Happy Little Sunbeam, it was obvious that he and the Jazz Vegas Orchestra were operating on the same frequency.

The setlist was a masterclass in range. From the playful swing of Friend Like Me to the gorgeous, aching beauty of You Go To My Head with Wayne on trumpet, Wayne DeSilva on tenor sax trading lines in a way that made the room hold its breath through to the combustible energy of Maynard & Waynard, where Wayne and JVO trumpeter Glenn Colby chased each other through the changes like two musicians having the time of their lives.

The tribute to Gordon Goodwin wove through the evening with precision and personality. High Clouds With A Chance of Wayne gave Dale Rampton room on vibraphone before Wayne and Curt Miller on trombone took it somewhere else entirely. Who, Me? closed the set with Gianna Christensen on trumpet, Rob Mader on tenor sax, Jasmine Freeman on bass trombone, and Wayne, all of them in the pocket, all of them swinging, Dave Loeb holding it together on the piano.

And then there was Besame Mucho with Andres Montero on drums, Wayne on trumpet tender and unhurried, like a late-night conversation between two old friends.

This was not a performance. This was a hang that happened to have an audience.

The Moment That Defined the Night

In the middle of Stay Cool Like A Swimming Pool, the fan favorite from local composer Barry Ross that has become a JVO signature, something happened that stopped the room in the best possible way.

Standing on the Myron's stage, performing alongside Wayne Bergeron and the full Jazz Vegas Orchestra, were Kaylee Medley on trumpet and Andrew Fulmer on alto sax. Both are Las Vegas Youth Jazz Orchestra alumni. Both came up through JOI programs. Both sat in the same seats that students at Jammin' With JOI sit in today.

And there they were. On that stage. In that room. With that band.

This is not a feel-good footnote. This is the entire mission of Jazz Outreach Initiative made visible in real time. Kenny Rampton, Gary Cordell, Donny Thompson, and the dedicated JOI board have built something that takes a kid from a free jam session in a church annex to a sold-out show at The Smith Center. That arc from first lesson to featured performer is exactly what drives JOI.

When you buy a ticket to a JVO show, when you donate to JOI, when you sponsor the mission, this is what you're investing in. Kaylee and Andrew on that stage in that moment to make our community and the world a better place.

Welcome to the Family — Two New JVO Members

June 17th also marked the debut of two new Jazz Vegas Orchestra members including drummer Andres Montero and bass trombonist Jasmine Freeman in their first official performance as part of the ensemble.

You would never have known it was their first night. Andres brought elegance and fire to Besame Mucho that felt like he had been playing that room for years. Jasmine held down the low end of the brass section with authority and grace throughout the evening.

The JVO just got deeper and that is saying something.

Welcome, Andres and Jasmine. The room noticed. 🎷

Myron's — There Is No Room Like It in Las Vegas

Myron's Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center is the right venue for this music. The sound is impeccable. The sight lines are intimate. The energy that builds in that room over the course of a 90-minute no-intermission set is unlike anything else in this city. The kind of collective experience where you look around at the people at the next table and you are all feeling the same thing at the same moment.

There is nowhere else in Las Vegas where this happens. And on June 17th, it happened at the highest possible level.

The next JVO show at Myron's will be announced soon. When it goes on sale, do not wait. You saw what happened to this show!
