A look back at a magical May evening, plus a Sunday concert you don't want to miss.
Jazz Underneath the Stars was a night to remember. On the evening of May 8th, the Centennial Hills Park Amphitheater came alive under an open sky. The Jazz Vegas Orchestra - JOI's nationally acclaimed big band took the stage for another free "Concerts for the Community" event, presented in partnership with Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune and the City of Las Vegas.
The night featured a special performance by guest vocalist Naomi Mauro, whose voice floated over the lawn as families spread out their blankets and chairs and settled in for something that doesn't happen nearly enough in this city: live jazz, free of charge, for everyone.
If you were there, you already know. If you missed it, see the event calendar for all upcoming Jazz Outreach Initiative 2026 productions including the Las Vegas Youth Jazz Orchestra Spring Concert Sunday May 24, 2026, Jazz Vegas Orchestra at Notoriety on June 3, and a very exciting concert at Myron's at The Smith Center, June 17th, featuring the JVO with legendary trumpeter Wayne Bergeron.

About The Jazz Outreach Initiative (JOI)
Jazz Outreach Initiative was founded on a simple but powerful idea: every young person in Las Vegas deserves access to live music, quality instruments, and the chance to discover what jazz can teach about music and life.
Through original programs like Buzzin' in Brass, Jazz Routes, Jazz for Young People, and JOI in Schools, we bring world-class jazz education directly to Title I schools, at-risk youth, and communities across Southern Nevada that are completely free of charge to the students and families we serve.
Jazz Routes provides donated and refurbished instruments to local disadvantaged and at-risk youth paired with a full year of free music lessons. Because an instrument without instruction is just an object. With instruction, it's a turning point.
This year, JOI is on track to reach nearly 10,000 young people by year end. Every concert attended, every dollar donated, and every sponsor who joins the mission helps make that number grow. Learn how to support the mission here.
