"Miles, Mingus, & Monk" Free Concert to Celebrate Juneteenth at West Las Vegas Library

Jazz Outreach Initiative has announced a free "Concerts for the Community" event featuring celebrated headliner and GRAMMY® nominated recording artist and vocalist, Clint Holmes and the JOI Septet.

The concert is in partnership with the West Las Vegas Library Theater and its Performing Arts Center Coordinator, China Hudson. The Library & Theater are located at 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd, Las Vegas NV 89106. The performance begins at 7:00pm on Friday, June 17th and tickets are not required. This is an all-ages family event showcasing the music of three of American history's most influential and ground-breaking jazz composers whose life experiences informed their writing with music that speaks to the heart of the Freedom and Civil Rights Movement and the quest for social justice relevant then and now.

Featured at the concert will also be two life-changing "Jazz Routes" presentations from Jazz Outreach Initiative and its exclusive partnership with Music & Arts, the nation's largest instrument retailer. Two students without the means to own their own music instruments will be given a new instrument of their choice AND thanks to our donors and sponsors, a full year of free private music lessons.

The performance has received with JOI's deepest gratitude, generous financial support from the Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF) to ensure this concert can be accessible to the community free of charge.

Members of the JOI Septet include some of Las Vegas's most talented 1st call musicians, Phil Wigfall (Alto Sax), Wayne de Silva (Tenor Sax), Jorge Machain (Trumpet), Nathan Tanouye (Trombone), Dave Loeb (Piano), Molly Redfield (Bass), and Johnny Friday (Drums).
