Tom Michel

Tom Michel has 40+ years of hands-on senior level marketing, branding, programming, hospitality, customer service and organizational management experience, focusing primarily on live entertainment, television, the arts, and culinary.

Mr. Michel is currently the Project Manager for Clark County’s revitalization of Historic Commercial Center, as well as a founder of Metropolis Theatricals Las Vegas LLC, which is producing the Las Vegas premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s FOLLIES in April, 2024.

Prior to that, Mr. Michel was the President of The Vegas and Nevada Rooms, two highly acclaimed supper clubs located just off the Las Vegas Strip in Historic Commercial Center.  The Vegas and Nevada Rooms were known for their presentation of exemplary live entertainment from an array of multi-talented local performers (over 500 in total), combined with handcrafted food and drink, all served in a welcoming and friendly environment that was reminiscent of the Las Vegas supper clubs of the past.  In total, The Vegas and Nevada Rooms welcomed over 35,000 patrons during its three year tenure.

Before The Vegas and Nevada Rooms, Mr. Michel held leadership roles with several major West Coast-based fine arts organizations, including Director of Marketing for Arizona Opera in Phoenix, Director of Development for Nevada Ballet Theatre in Las Vegas, and Vice President of Marketing and External Affairs for Ballet West in Salt Lake City, one of America’s top 10 ballet companies.

Immediately prior to his relocation to Salt Lake City, Mr. Michel was New York City-based and held the role as Head of Development for the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the nation’s premiere film organization and the producer of the prestigious New York Film Festival.  While with the organization, he also helped launch a pair of $40M art-house movie theaters on the Lincoln Center campus.

Also in New York, he commanded the senior most marketing roles at The Film Society, The Metropolitan Opera (largest arts organization in America), New York City Ballet, and The Public Theatre/Shakespeare in the Park.  As part of his role, Mr. Michel rebranded each organization, and his work may still be seen in the current identities of each of these illustrious not-for-profit arts leaders. In television prior to his arts work, his extensive background includes Vice President of Marketing roles at MTV Networks, Bravo, AMC and Time Warner Cable.

Mr. Michel also served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Broadway Inner Circle, the first premium ticketing service for Broadway, founded by the producers of the hit show, The Producers.  Additionally, he was the co-founder of Bezalel Gables Fine Catering & Events, the Hudson Valley’s most exclusive luxury catering business, which served more than 40,000 guests over a 10-year span.

He is an avid arts-goer, pianist, animal lover, and maintains his residence in Las Vegas – another of his passions.
