Every great ensemble knows that the right voice changes everything.

On Wednesday, August 5th, the Jazz Vegas Orchestra welcomes a very special guest to the Notoriety stage — Las Vegas vocalist Lannie Counts, dubbed the "Heart of Soul" by Chic Compass Magazine, a singer whose career spans more than three decades, two cities, and more stages than most musicians dream of reaching. This is going to be a night to remember.

A Voice Shaped by a Lifetime in Music

Lannie Counts grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, raised on gospel, R&B, soul, and jazz. His mother introduced him to the choir. His father introduced him to Ray Charles and the big band sound. By the time he was performing professionally at 22, fronting a top 40 band five nights a week, he had already developed the kind of vocal versatility that makes a singer impossible to put in a box.

His influences tell the whole story: Diana Ross and the Supremes, the Temptations, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson. Gospel roots, jazz sensibility, soul in every note. When Lannie Counts steps to a microphone, you hear all of it at once. He arrived in Las Vegas in 1990 and never looked back.

Thirty Years of Las Vegas

In a city that has seen and heard everything, Lannie Counts has earned his place as one of its most respected and versatile vocalists. He has performed with Tony Tillman and The New Imperials, appeared in Country Fever at the Golden Nugget, fronted his own band at the Voodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio and at the Venetian, and toured the world as a featured performer with The Las Vegas Tenors aboard Royal Caribbean cruise lines.|

He has performed alongside Bill Champlin of Chicago fame, shared stages with Keith Sweat, Najee, and Kenny G, and brought his voice to some of the most beloved musical institutions in Las Vegas including Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns and the Lon Bronson All Star Band.

Later this year, Lannie will take the stage at The Orleans Hotel for The Dream Awards, performing alongside recognized artists in one of Las Vegas's most celebrated annual events. The man keeps moving forward. That's who he is.
