Jazz Outreach Initiative is creating a lot of excitement across the nation among fellow jazz institutions with its many outstanding programs produced. The JOI Jazz Orchestra is certainly among the most exciting. Comprised of some of the best 1st call musicians anywhere, the JOI Jazz Orchestra performs for audiences throughout the year and will be increasing its performance schedule into 2023 including a possible road trip late this summer.

Notably, "A JOIful NoiZZ" will prominently feature long time JOI supporter, Advisory Board member, and our primary vocalist, none other than Grammy® nominated legendary headliner, Clint Holmes! JOI's co-founder and Artistic Director, renowned trumpeter, Kenny Rampton from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis also performs. And we're especially thrilled and honored to have 9-time Grammy® winner and 32 times nominated jazz legend and JOI Advisory Board member, WYNTON MARSALIS performing on this CD!

Also important to JOI is the focus on representing local composers, some who are also in the band. Among those whose compositions and arrangements are on this album are Jorge Machain, Nathan Tanouye, Rachel Eckroth who are a part of our organization and Dennis Mackrel and Donny McCaslin.

Included in our stable of home grown artists are Curt Miller who is an incredible talent not just on his trombone in the band, but as our V.P. for the Board and an exceptionally gifted engineer on this album performing editing, mixing, licensing, and other work to produce this fantastic piece of work. Long time JOI graphic artist, Brittany Thompson contributed to the unique cover art and design layout for the CD through her creative use of JOI's "Beams of Enlightenment" as we call them.

You'll recognize the names of the musicians on this album. Trumpets: Daniel Falcone (Lead), Gary Cordell, Wes Marshall, Jorge Machain, Kenny Rampton. Trombones: Curt Miller (Lead), Nathan Tanouye, David Philippus, Sonny Hernandez. Reeds: Phil Wigfall (Lead), Eddie Rich, Wayne de Silva, Rob Mader, John Summers. Strings: Lauren Cordell, Geri Thompson, Omar Shelley, Moonlight Tran. Rhythm: Jimmy Tripi (Guitar), Dave Loeb (piano), David Ostrem (Upright Bass), Molly Redfield (Upright Bass), Johnny Friday (Drums).

Finally, there are so many others behind the scenes who work together as a family to ensure everything JOI does is worthy of its affiliation with Jazz at Lincoln Center. Co-founder and V.P. Education & Programming, Gary Cordell, who worked countless hours scheduling rehearsals, working on charts, and so much more. Executive Director Donny Thompson, Board Members Juliana McRae (Sec), Dan Philippus CPA (Treas.) and Linda Woodson (Trustee) all contribute to the success and growth of JOI as an institution.

We hope you will enJOI this CD for years to come, will share it with your friends and family, and will continue to support Jazz Outreach Initiative by attending our concerts, participating as a volunteer, giving generously when you can, and following us via our emails and social media channels. THERE'S MORE TO COME!!
