Jazz Outreach Initiative Receives Grant from Nevada Arts Council & National Endowment for the Arts


Jazz Outreach Initiative is proud to announce it award of $5,000 from the Nevada Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts. The "FY23 Operating Support Grant" will help "JOI" continue serving the community with nearly a dozen world-class programs including "Buzzin' In Brass" for Title 1 elementary schools, "Jazz for Young People" licensed by Jazz at Lincoln Center for secondary schools, "JOI in Schools" which sends our professional mentors into local middle and high school band rooms to help band directors and students build on their jazz language and performance skills, "Jammin' With JOI," our free summer program for student musicians of all ages and abilities, the "Las Vegas Youth Jazz Orchestra" which is comprised of diverse and talented students from across CCSD, the "JOI Jazz Orchestra" our professional big band, the largest in the nation "Essentially Ellington Regional High School Jazz Band Festival" which is co-hosted by UNLV School of Music, Division of Jazz and Commercial Music and licensed by Jazz at Lincoln Center (February 17-18, 2023) and welcomes local bands as well as top bands from across the west coast, and many more programs.


Jazz Outreach Initiative wishes to express is gratitude to Nevada Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts for believing in the quality of our service to the community in support of our Mission. JOI also would like to thank our current elected officials who support the arts in our community and we have sent each individually a thank you for that support.
