About the event
Jazz is in great hands with The Las Vegas Youth Jazz Orchestra! This next generation of middle and high school jazz musicians presented as both a big band orchestra and in smaller combos carries Jazz Outreach Initiative's standard into the future! Students from this outstanding ensemble have gone on to some of the world's best college jazz programs including UNLV, Michigan, Julliard, Peabody, USC, and others! They've performed for private and public events, Carrie Underwood, City of Las Vegas Arts & Culture Summit Cocktail Reception, Jonathan Karrant and Clint Holmes concerts, and many more!
Directed by JOI Co-founder and VP Education & Programming, Gary Cordell, additional mentors also bring out the best in these young musicians including members from each section of the JOI Jazz Orchestra and Grammy® nominated composer/singer/pianist Rachel Eckroth. Las Vegas Youth Jazz Orchestra members also receive masterclasses and clinics from some of the world's most renowned jazz artists and educators at no extra cost.
